Q. Can I access journal articles from ScienceDirect while I am off-campus?
The website says "For users to access ScienceDirect off campus they must request a username from their librarian. Librarians can obtain these user IDs by contacting ScienceDirect E-Helpdesk." Thank you for your help.
When you are off-campus, you need to access ScienceDirect through the library website. This way the link will be proxied, prompting you to athenticate with your NET ID and password. You will then have access to material in ScienceDirect that we subscribe to. Remember we do not subscribe to all of their journals. If you ever have a question, use the ASK US button at the top of any page and send us the citation and we will double check it for you. If we don't have the article available it can be ordered through our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service.
To access ScienceDirect, go to the University Libraries homepage (http://library.stonybrook.edu) and click the 'databases' link below the search box area. At the A-Z Databases page you can Find Databases by Title, or click on the S tab and scroll down until you reach ScienceDirect.
