An embargo is a restriction on the articles that you can access, based on how much the library pays the journal publisher or provider.

Most of the embargoes on SBU subscriptions are for a set period of time, meaning that until an article has been published for a set period of time (i.e. one year or 18 months), you will need to submit an Interlibrary Loan request (http://library.stonybrook.edu/services/access-services/interlibrary-loan/) to access the article.
