First, I'd encourage you to make an appointment with the librarian subject specialist for English & Global Literature.  The English & Global Literature guide has descriptions and links to excellent resources along with the contact information to the subject specialist on the right sidebar of the guide homepage.  The librarian will work with you to develop a fruitful search strategy, and make sure that you are finding good, relevant sources for your assignment.

In the meantime, you can also try variations of a search query:

women AND (abuse OR violence) AND ("wide sargasso sea" OR "the woman warrior")

Plug this queary into ProjectMUSE and JSTOR.  Also try the database Literature Resource Center (listed on the English and Global Literature guide).
