SciFinder can be accessed by Stony Brook University faculty, staff, and students only. Users must first register for access. Click here to access the SciFinder authentication page. You will be prompted to enter your NetID and NetID password. Then you can click to register if you are a first time user. Users must register with a valid Stony Brook University email address (do not register with your hotmail, personal gmail, or other email account) and create a username and password.
Once you have registered, go to the University Libraries homepage (http://library.stonybrook.edu) and click the 'databases' link in the top left Search box area. At the A-Z Databases page you can Find Databases by Title, or click on the S tab and scroll down until you reach SciFinder.
You can also go to the Resources menu at the bottom of any page on the University Libraries website and click the 'Databases' link, and follow the steps above.
When you are off campus, make sure you use the Library website to access SciFinder, so it knows that you are affiliated with Stony Brook. You will be asked for your NetID and NetID password.
