The Course Reserves system at the Stony Brook University Library allows faculty to place books, articles, audio visual items, CDs, and electronic resources on reserve for student use.

Most reserve materials are restricted to the branch of the library that they belong to and must be used in the library.  These typically have a two hour, three hour, or four hour loan period.  However, if the book has a loan period of one day or longer you are permitted to leave the library with it.

Portions of the book may be scanned or photocopied, as long as you do not exceed the amount allowed by federal copyright law.
